Talk about loving your job

A few days ago I got together with my friend Jeff Tisman and we did some improv shooting (our original plans fell through as the rain drops came falling on our heads.) We ended up shooting our model Erika (an awesome model by anyones standards) in the parking garage of my sisters apartment. This is just an example to show how awesome shots can be created anywhere even if your original ideas don't follow through exactly right. Props to Erika for giving us that high fashion style we've been looking for!

Test test test.

Every now and then (or all the time) I get the urge to go out shooting just random shots to test out new new ideas and such. Yesterday a fellow photog Steve came by to play along with the new lights. We tried to get a few models together but they all seemed to call out sick. I guess no one wants free photos these days? But anyway we started out in the studio, took some shots, then moved outside, took some shots, then we got to play with Steve's underwater housing. Check out these photos from the day.

One of the first shots of the day, Steve (sorry to put your photo up) was an excellent model since all of our other attempts to find some failed :-(

Playing with the strobes a bit gave us some really cool shots:

I decided to try some low light strobing (and it worked awesome) to create some crazy bokeh in the background. (Bokeh is just a crazy name for depth of field blur)

We take advantage of natural light situations whenever possible as shown below.

And of course, how could I end the night without one of my favorite lenses: The Fisheye.

This is how we started to the day outside, Steve took this one. Just so he can't be upset that I only put photos of him on my blog.

We played with water. Thanks to Steve's underwater housing and my studio strobes (not recommended to use strobes by a water source*)

Crazy Poltergeist Shot.

Sorry Steve, had to put it. Looks kinda cool.

Marianne to Christopher

Over the weekend I shot a wedding that was three houses down from my house! Talk about lucky locations! My Groom and Bride did an awesome job with the limited time we had after the ceremony and even put up with me wanting to grab shots during the reception and then again even after. Their willingness definitely shown through and the pictures rocked. My assistant Troy, (or as he wanted to be called for the day - "Assistant McAwesomepants" ) did an awesome job as well, setting up and breaking a brand new light system for him in record time. I wish them great luck in the future and can't wait to see them to give them their photos!

A few weeks back I shot Lindsey and Priscilla in Ocean City, NJ. They trooped it out through blistering temperatures to get some amazing shots! I had a great time with them and can't wait to see them again in the future. It was baptism by fire with my assistant Anastasia who did an awesome job figuring out how the whole shoot process worked. Here's a little preview of the shots from the day!
